Whether you’re dealing with old, faded lines or just want a fresh start, there’s a right way to remove your line marks. In our video, we demonstrate how to remove line markings like a pro.

The Graco Cutting System

At Line Mark, we use a millimetre-precise cutting system, manufactured by the industry leader Graco. It’s designed to remove old and worn lines from concrete and tarmac surfaces.

This method is different from a shot blasting or grinding system in that this machine uses carbide flails that chip away at the top layers of paint, removing 0.25mm at a time. The end finish shows scarification lines where the paint and substrate are removed. This method is the fastest and safest way of removing large quantities of line markings without the need for exposed flames and gas.

The Pitfalls of Traditional Line Removal

Traditional line removal is done with an HCA lance. This method uses propane gas and an air compressor to burn the line marks. In short, it melts the paint and substrate. The end result is a black line along the floor that does little more than damage the substrate and scar the surface.

While burning is a very common method, it’s also very slow. It also limited you to around 10, from the lorry as the gas lines need to be attached to the compressor on the lorry and the lance. In addition to this, it presents a huge fire risk as you have an open flame kicking out some serious heat!
