How do we line mark a car park?

Ever wondered how a car park is line marked?

Choose a paint

Typically, there are two types of paint to choose from. The first is a non-reflective paint such as a single-pack solvent or water-based paint. These are fantastic paints for overmarking in a car park if you’re not too concerned with reflective line markings and are erring more on the side of initial outlay cost saving.

the downside to using a single-pack paint field line marking is the durability. Typically, this sort of line might last anywhere up to 3 years.

If you’d prefer to look for something that would last longer and cost less overall, I could do far worse than select an MMA line marking paint. The MMA paint is typically a two-part paint that consists of a hardener and the pigment, and often in conjunction uses a glass bead coating which allows for reflective lines, as you normally see on the motorway.

Do we shut the car park?

in an ideal world, the paint would be dry in seconds and would never need to close a car park. In reality, while closing a car park to carry out the work is in everybody’s best interest when it comes to safety and speed, often it is simply not practical and the car park needs to remain open and the news while the lines are painted.

In order to facilitate this, we often have to carry out work in sections at a time so that the car park can remain open while the lines are being painted.

One of the benefits of our line marking process is the time in which the line markings cure. Often, we can return a parking space within minutes of the lines having been painted. This is sometimes extended when we use our premium MMA paint, as this takes longer to cure than the standard single-part line marking paint.
